It has been applied in some biomedical applications, in orthopaedic field. The Intervertebral spacers proposed for cervical fusions consist of alumina with bioactive coating that was evaluated mechanically and submitted to Immersion test in simulated body fluid. X-Ray Diffraction analysis and electron microscopic analysis also have been studied .The bioactive coating speeds up the apatite forming ability in the body environment. The higher compression strength and inertness are the most important characteristics to enable the intervertebral spacers to support without fracturing or changing. These spacers are completely bioactive and biocompatible.
